Hello - Movie Review

HelloWe all know Hello is an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s bestseller One Night @ The Call Centre, the film is a proof that all books are not meant for films. Director Atul Agnihotri dealt with a readymade product and even though he failed to spell magic with the script. The film lacks soul and blood. It’s completely dull, no thrill and no fun. In comparison to the book, the film is very boring to watch. There is no any compelling factor that would entice the audience to stick to their seat. There is not any single moment to be acclaimed and there is no any single scene that could touch your heart.

This is Atul Agnihotri’s second flick and he once more proved that he is not a good story teller. Things are presented in such a puzzled way that you cannot connect your heart and mind to any scene. Screenplay is horrible and Atul has shown his naiveness in dealing the subject. Atul fails to showcase the call centre atmosphere and looks very dull in the outlook.

More or less everyone is acquainted with the call centre air. The film talks about six call center employees that come from different background and deals with different problems of their life. It’s a one night tale of six individuals, Shyam (Sharman Joshi), Priyanka (Gul Panag), Vroom (Sohail Khan), Esha (Isha Koppikar), Radhika (Amrita Arora) and Milatary Uncle (Sharat Saxena). Then there's the big bad boss Bakshi (Dalip Tahil). Shyam is a team leader of a call centre. Besides leading a team, he is also going through his own personal aggression. He is in love with his colleague Priyanka who in turn eyeing an NRI yuppie in USA.

It talks about another call centre employee Vroom who falls for his associate Esha who keenly wanted to try her luck in modeling and never mind taking any risk to fulfill her dream into reality. Then there is depressed Radhika who is frustrated with her husband’s behavior who rarely visits home and rest of her peace been eaten by her mother-in-law who anytime keeps yelling on her. And lastly there is Military Uncle ( Sharat Saxena ) who loves his NRI grandson so much that he always carries a framed picture of the lad.

It shows how six characters fight against their personal problems and how at one rainy night their kismet changes and life began to smile at them.

Speaking about the performances, Salman Khan who has opened the show cannot leave any deep impression on the audience and so is his girlfriend, Katrina Kaif. Sharman is in his best. He manages to input some interesting element in the dull script. Sohail Khan played his part spontaneously. Arbaaz Khan has got little scope to enact.  Amrita, Isha and Gul are okay. Dalip Tahil is in his hilarious best. Sharat Saxena is wasted

Speaking about other departments, Sajid-Wajid's music is soothing to the ears. Atul Agnihotri fails to shine as a director. Sanjay F. Gupta's cinematography is alright.

On the whole, Hello is a very very poor show. Undoubtedly, box-office collection will also be very poor. Not much crowd will be seen at the ticket counter.
