Usually any film revolves around a physically disabled like hearing impaired or unable to talk, a dump is a movie full of grief, tears and gloomy journey but Anurag Basu’s ‘Barfi!’ stands out from the customary. Though ‘Barfi!’ the protagonist of the movie is not blessed with hearing and speaking, he leads life more happily than those who are blessed with perfection. But he has no regret towards life and he lives every moment with utter blissful. Barfi! don’t panic that he is not like any other people and lives every moment very lively.

The film is about ‘Barfi’ (Ranbir Kapoor) who is named Murphy after birth but people lovingly call him ‘Barfi’, Jhilmil Chatterjee (Priyanka Chopra), an autistic and beautiful Shruti (Ileana D’Cruz) played his two ladyloves. Set in the backdrop of Darjeeling and Kolkata, ‘Barfi!’ is a heart-warming story of unconditional love. The story begins with a flashback.

The story starts with a flashback and the story is narrated by Shruti, Barfi’s first love. In Darjeeling, he falls for Shruti. She too attracted towards him and loved his innocence and childish activities but the materialistic society makes their love impossible. Shruti is beautiful, intelligent and she also has desires in life. She deserved a smart, wealthy and intelligent guy but she was in two minds as she developed affection for Barfi. To impress the population which is habituated to see dance, drama and glitz and glamour is tough but Anurag Basu has done the impossible. He made the audience fall in love with speaking and hearing impaired Barfi.

Speaking about performances, Ranbir Kapoor has delivered an award winning performances. Last year, he impressed with his ‘Rockstar’ performances and this time with Barfi. To enact a deaf and dump at the starting stage of career is nothing more than a mammoth task but Ranbir Kapoor was as per excellence. Priyanka Chopra too was superb. She once said in an interview 'give me any tough role and I will do it', she stands to her words. Slowly Priyanka is building a special platform for her in Bollywood and she is like a bright star. She portrayed this tough role with sheer excellence. Debutante Illeana D’Cruz refused ‘Wanted’ and lost the chance of debuting opposite Salman Khan. She said she has no regret as Barfi is the perfect launching and now that the film has been released, we too feel the same that Illeana should not at all regret that she rejected ‘Wanted’ because Barfi is a good debut for her and she so well depicted her role and was no convincing that she hardly made the audience feel that it is her first Bollywood project. She has a long way to go in Bollywood.

Saurabh Shukla, Akash Khurana, Ashish Vidyarthi, Rupa Ganguly and Jishu Sengupta are all equally good.

In the nutshell, ‘Barfi’ is a mind-blowing movie which will surely feel your two and a half hours with fun and contentment.
