Ranvir (Saif Ali Khan) and Rajiv (Akshaye Khanna) are two Indian half brothers living in Durban, South Africa. The brothers have a huge business of a stud farm where they breed world class horses at their ranch house. They are also the biggest bookies in the horse racing circuit. However both brothers are as different as chalk and cheese. Ranvir the elder brother is a shrewd, smart and savvy businessman. He has an aggressive passion for horses and uses it to his advantage in his business. Meanwhile Rajiv is more relaxed and does not take an active interest in the business he prefers to idle away his time in comfort and his money on alcohol. He is also an alcoholic.
Sophia (Katrina Kaif) is Ranvir's secretary and is devoted to him. She is perfectly meticulous and efficient in any matter given to her by Ranvir. However she has a crush on Ranvir and secretly is in love with him. But Ranvir is too busy with his own life to notice his secretary's feelings for him.
Shaina (Bipasha) is an Indian upcoming ramp model in Durban. She is beautiful and passionate. Ranvir and she share a special relationship.
R.D (Anil Kapoor) is a cool and witty detective. He believes that his intelligence and wit helps him solve cases. He has some real funny habits, like his addiction to fruits etc. Mini (Sameera Reddy) is R.D's personal assistant and is one of the most stupid and silly chicks.
Shaina and Ranvir had a special relationship. But fate had other things in store for this couple who parted ways. Shaina then gets married to Ranvir's brother Rajiv who is besotted with her. However only after their marriage does she learn that Rajiv is an alcoholic. She is devastated to learn this fact about her husband. Ranvir too is upset when he finds that his brother has gone back to drinking. Rajiv had promised Ranvir that he would quit drinking for good if Shaina came into his life and that was one of the reasons that Ranvir had silently given up his love for Shaina.
Rajiv's alcohol problems keeps getting worse and Sahina takes consolation by pouring her heart out to Ranvir. They gradually become close once again and begin having an affair. However things take a turn for the worse when Rajiv begins to suspect his wife, Shaina and his older brother Ranvir of having an affair. Rajiv loses his temper and spirals out of control. A murder takes place, a contract killing is issued, betrayal, lies, deceit and a lot of other games begin. No body is innocent any more everyone is a suspect and everyone is hiding some sort of deep, dark secret.
Detective R.D steps in with his assistant Mini and they begin an investigation, which leads to one skeleton after the other coming out of the closet. The story goes through various twists and turns and everything is moving at a super fast pace. Race has been directed by Abbas Mastan, it stars Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Anil Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, Katrina Kaif and Sameera Reddy. The music of the film has been done by Pritam. Race is a fast paced action thriller with a back drop of horse racing, the beautiful locales of Durban and edge of the seat excitement. |
