Raajneeti - Movie Preview
As the word ‘Raajneeti’ sounds, it is a political drama directed by director Prakash Jha. Prakash is a director of different genre of films. He is a realistic film maker and hardly takes music as integral part of his movie. His films ‘Gangajaal’ and ‘Apaharan’ is an example of his least interest in the musical department. He makes movie which are socially challenging. His latest flick ‘Raajneeti’ speaks about the present day politics and in which he has portrayed Katrina Kaif as Sonia Gandhi. Though his film least supports music, ‘Raajneeti’ stands exceptional. This time not one or two but he has roped in four music directors, Pritam, Aadesh Srivastav, Shantanu Moitra and Wayne Sharpe to compose the music of ‘Raajneeti’.
As there are two beautiful faces Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor, Prakash Jha feels that it would be unjustified if he does not represent their romance on-screen. ‘Raajniti’ has got romantic songs based on the situation. There are altogether five songs sung by singers like Shashi, Kavita Seth, Kavita Seth, Sonu Nigam, Antara Mitra and lyrics by Irshad Kamil Gulzar. Here is a brief description of the songs.
The album opens with a romantic number definitely picturized on Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif. It goes as 'Bheegi Si Bhagi Si’. The song is rich in lyrics and full of emotions. It sounds so soulful, seems like Antara Mitra has put her soul into it. It is a light romantic number having a soothing feel. This song will well depict the romance of Ranbir and Kat and having all the ingredients to hit the chartbusters. Irshad Kamil’s wordings directly pierced our heart.
The second track goes as ‘Mora Piya’ which is a semi classical number. It is a fusion of modern and classical number. It can also be touted as a party song rich in instrumentation. As the song starts, it will take time to grasp but once it moves forward, it will have a mesmerizing result. Composed and crooned by Aadesh Srivastava, ‘Mora Piya’ can be counted as Aadesh’s one of the best jobs. This number is going to work in favor of the film.
‘Mora Piya (Twilight Mix)’ is the third track of the film and the remix version of Aadesh Srivatava’s song ‘Mora Piya’. It has an electrifying effect and is bit faster than the original track. Highly instrumental again taking hold of the mike is Aadesh Srivastava and Shashi. It is very fast and high in beats. On the whole, it is a foot tapping number. Along with Aadesh, Kavita Seth also croons the number.
The fourth track is a nautanki number that goes as ‘Ishq Barse’ and sung by Pronob Biswas, Hamsika Iyer and Swanand Kirkire. Like ‘Gangajaal’ and ‘Apaharan’, Prakash Jha here also emphasis for an item number and ‘Ishq Barse’ falls in the line of ‘Alhar Mast Jawani’ from ‘Gangajaal’. It has a touch of Rajasthani folk. It will find a place in the discos and pubs. The song sounds sensuous, ready to take the males away with its thundering effect along with latkas and jhatkas.
The fifth and the final track of the movie is the song of motherland that goes as ‘Dhan Dhan Dharti’ similar to AR Rahman’s ‘Maa Tuje Salaam’. Sonu Nigan has been assigned to lend his voice for the song which is dedicated to the soil. It is quite touching and soothing. Sonu has beautifully sung the song; his pure and soulful voice suits the song. The combination of lyricist Gulzar, singer Sonu and composer Wayne Sharpe makes the number audible and one of the best tracks.
In the nutshell, ‘Raajniti’ comes as a surprise from Prakash Jha. This time he has taken some interest in music and has been successful in delivering a soothing political drama. ‘Dhan Dhan Dharti’ composed by Wayne Sharpe, ‘Mora Piya’ by Aadesh Srivatava and ‘Bheegi Si Bhaagi Si’ by Pritam are the picks of the album. It is a political drama but high in the musical arena. An album worth buying and listening.
