Partner is based on the Hollywood film Hitch starring the talented actor Will Smith. Partner is a romantic comedy produced by Sohail Khan Productions and directed by David Dhawan. The star cast consists of Salman Khan, Govinda, Lara Dutta and Katrina Kaif. The music for the film has been composed by Himesh Reshammiya. Ironically Katrina Kaif is paired opposite Govinda in the film and not opposite real life beau Salman.
Salman Khan (Prem) plays the role enacted by Will Smith which involves a comic role where he plays a ‘date doctor’. As a ‘date doctor’ he understands women, their likes, dislikes in men, food, clothing etc. He also understands the psyche of a woman and hence is able to help men woo the women whom they love, admire and want to be with. But Prem does all this for a fat fee and is regarded as a thorough professional. Prem is a genuine guy and hence helps men whom he feels truly care about the women they want and not those who only want to have a good time or a fast fling.
Prem has helped many men to understand women, woo them and finally win their hearts over. Prem believes that there is a special procedure to woo every woman and one just needs to observe them for this. Prem however is a bachelor and prefers not to fall into the love trap himself, though he can have any woman he wants. However one fine day he meets Naina (Lara Dutta), a woman he falls head over heels in love with. But Naina unfortunately is immune to all the tricks and procedures that Prem tries to win her heart over. Naina is a newspaper journalist and resists all of Prem’s moves wisely. In the process Prem meets Govinda, a man who needs to learn a lot about wooing and winning over a woman. Govinda is in love with Katrina, the daughter of a rich industrialist but she is almost unattainable to him due to his complete ignorance about wooing a woman.
It is Prem who comes to Govinda’s rescue and helps him learn the ropes to woo a woman the right way and to win her heart. Prem and Govinda go through many comic situations in trying to win over the ladies who rule their heart and the situations where Prem is teaching Govinda the procedure is hilarious. Watch the chemistry between two kings of comedy, Salman and Govinda with ace comic director David Dhawan at the helm of things.
