Luck - Movie Preview
Soham Shah’s last flick ‘Kaal’ has hit the music chartbusters and this time again he has returned with his same successful troupe with ‘Luck’ which is the highly anticipated movie of 2009. Soham has roped in music composer Salim-Sulaiman for ‘Luck’. ‘Luck’ is a highly action packed movie where the scope of music is very little but Soham made space and tried to deliver an ear-soothing music, matching with the situation to entertain the music lovers.
Salim-Sulaiman and lyricist Shabbir Ahmed had done a magical job in ‘Kaal’ and they are back again with ‘Luck’ with the same effect. The songs are mostly fast track, highly improvised with western arrangement, filled up with josh. It has altogether four tracks with their remixes. Here is the gist of the songs.
The album opens with the title track ‘Luck Aazma’ by Sukhvinder Singh and Satya Hinduja singing the original one. The track is fast and raunchy, highly instrumented. But Sukhvinder sounds little dull here but he picked up the pace in the remix version of the same number, it is highly energetic.
The remix version of ‘Luck Aazma’ will be a treat to hear because the gal who is making her debut in acting went behind the mike and crooned the remix version. She is none other than Kamal Hassan and Sarika’s daughter Shruti Hassan. She is accompanied by Clinton Cerejo who crooned the English portions. Surprisingly, her voice best suited the number as she has a pop feel in her voice. Let’s see how much credit she gets from that audience as she is together making debut in singing and acting.
The second track ‘Khudaya Ve’ is a sad number crooned by Salim Merchant. It is a slow paced genre of music and narrates the pain of the protagonist. The song is not too captivating and its two remixes add to the irritation.
Salim and Sulaiman took hold of the mike for the remix version which is called ‘Radio Mix’. The original number itself is a slow speed and when in next tuning the remix version comes into play, the situation becomes more pathetic and one tries to find way for a quick go. The song is inspired from ‘Fashion’ and ‘Dil Haara’ from ‘Tashan’.
The third track opens with ‘Jee Le’ which is full of youthfulness and has a peppy feeling. The music of guitar is very prominent here and the song is very palpitating as it is picturized on heartthrob Imran Khan and stunning Shruti Haasan. Salim Sulaiman has included all romantic flavor of music to make it an everlasting love song. The lyric is quite captivating and the song is a delight to hear. Rendition by Shruti Pathak and Naresh Kamath is superb.
It’s remix version is not at all catchy.
The fourth track ‘Laga Le’ is a perfect dance number with Anushka Manchanda as the playback singer and Robert Bob Omulo giving her company. ‘Laga Re’ doesn’t come out well and is a total dull product with no fresh feeling. It is a passable one.
In the nutshell, the promo of ‘Luck’ has promised a lot and it is the script that can only keep up the promise because as far as its music is concerned, it ranks at the average.
