Shankar-Eshaan-Loy is the ruling music composer of the industry. They have created a niche in the industry with their soulful music. Rock On, Don, 3 Idiots, Dil Chahata Hai etc are the benchmark. Putting the same success effort, they have composed the music of ‘Karthik Calling Karthik’. Above all, the lyrics of Javed Akhtar have added soul to the music. The music of the film is romantic, soulful, touching and entertaining.
There are altogether seven songs, five is original and two remixes. The songs are situational and hoping to rule the music chartbuster for a long time. The songs also have a warm feeling and once you tune into it, you will connect to it very easily.
The first track ‘Uff Teri Adaa’ is high on beats. Crooned by Alyssa Mendonsa and Shankar Mahadevan, the song makes the mood to shake your body. It is fast paced and quite enjoyable. The modulation of Alyssa and Shankar’s voice makes the number a happening one. The remixes of the same track is equally astounding.
Some romantic songs are evergreen. They never turn pale with passes of time. Their fragrance increases as they grows older, the next track '’Jaane Ye Kya Hua’ possesses the similar characteristic. KK’s high pitched and melodious voice makes the song classy and touchy. The instrumentation was brilliant and will always be remembered as romantic best.
After the foot tapping and romantic number, here comes the lonely track ‘Kaisi Hai Ye Udaasi’. Kailash Kher’s innovative singing and Sukanya Purkayastha’s melodious voice add new charm to the song. It’s a slow rendition and a treat to the ear. The grief of the protagonist has been flaunted well with the perfect tuning and lyrics.
The unusual title track, ‘Karthik Calling Karthik’ by Suraj Jaggan, Shankar Mahadevan, Caralisa Monteiro and Malika Singh provides a psychological thriller feeling. The instrumental arrangement was according to the theme and lyrics of the film. Beep sound, phone ringing sound are much prominent. It has a mysterious feeling. The pace is slow.
'Karthik Calling Karthik theme remix' by Midival Punditz and Karsh Kale is fast paced and better than the original. The beats are high comparatively and almost situational. It tells what is going with the protagonist and better reflects his mood.
On the whole, the soundtrack of ‘Karthik Calling Karthik’ can be ranked better as well as worth listening. The music will definitely be a plus point of the film. ‘uff teri ada’ and ‘kaisi hai ye’ are the pick ups of the album.
