Golmaal Returns - Movie Preview

Golmaal ReturnsAs we all know Golmaal Returns is a sequel to Golmaal, the first question that comes to our mind whether its music will be effective like the earlier one or just go off. On looking at Pritam’s back to back hit, director Rohit Shetty has shifted his choice from Vishal-Shekhar to music composer Pritam. As it is a comedy flick music has been composed keeping the comic angle in mind. As whole lots of popular actors like Kareena Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Ajay Devgan, Amrita Arora will groove to the tune much effort has been made to make the music enticing.

One of the unique features of the album is that every song has its remix version. Five original compositions have got five more remixes. Lyrics have been penned by Sameer. The songs are too peppy, full of youthfulness, funny and have a disco flavor. It is just out in the market and it will take sometime for gauging its popularity and liking. A bountiful of singers like Neeraj Shridhar Anvesha Dutta, Akruti Kakkar, Earl, Indie, Anushka Manchanda and Monali are assigned to croon the lyrics of Sameer and composition of Pritam. Here is the gist of the five songs and their remix versions.

The album opens with 'Tha Tha Kar Ke' by Neeraj Shridhar. Giving him support at some parts are Anvesha Dutta, Akruti Kakkar, Earl and Indie. It is a yuppie number and full of masti. The song has been able to generate thrill and has the magic to set the dance floor on fire. The musical set up by newcomer Ashish Pandit is appreciable. On the whole, it sounds better and can be touted a good listening track.

Next in the offering is the title track that goes ‘Vacancy’ crooned by Neeraj Sridhar. The lyric is quite hilarious and amusing. This time Neeraj Sridhar again moves with Benny, Suhail and Suzy Q. It is a hip-hop club number and most liable to be played at pubs. The English and Hindi lyrics make the song humorous. It cannot be touted as the best song of the album but can be rated average.

The third track of the flick is 'Tu Saala' sung by Anushka Manchanda. The song is nothing exceptional but has a classy touch. Beats are westernized and lyrics are mediocre. Nothing more can be expected from the song except that it is pub-friendly song and will go according to the mood of the youth.

The last but not the least soundtrack of the flick is ‘Meow’. Its sounds bizarre, isn’t. This cat-brawling rendition usually directed to woman and it has a sensuous feeling. Crooned by Monali, she is one who has impressed one and all with her singing sensation 'Touch Me Touch Me' [Race] early this year and this time too she ruled.

Generally speaking, the music of Golmaal Returns cannot be touted chartbusters. But few songs like 'Tha Tha Kar Ke', ‘Meow’ can appeal the youngsters to view the flick in the theatre. If the film proves hit then no credits will go to Pritam. It may sound harsh but the truth is that the album won’t be a bestseller.
