Golmal means something fishy or some underhand situation. Well that’s exactly what the film is about, a situation where four good for nothing guys are up to no good. The story is about the lives of these four college friends, Gopal (Ajay Devgan), Lucky (Tusshar Kapoor), Mahadev (Arshad Warsi) and Laxmi (Sharman Joshi). The film has been directed by Rohit Shetty and the story has been written by Neeraj Vora. Vishal-Shekhar have composed the music. The film also stars Paresh Rawal and Rimi Sen. The film belongs to the comedy genre.
Gopal, Lucky, Madho and Laxmi are naughty, mischievous and are always pulling people’s legs. They often con other people for some extra money and a laugh. Like any college kids, they too don’t have too many future plans. They don’t really have any goals in life and are just interested in living for the moment. Gopal is the unsaid leader of the gang, his wild ways and habits are like a magnet for the rest of the gang. He believes that one should eat, drink, and be merry as one never knows what will happen tomorrow.
Madho and Lucky too are completely lazy and will use any excuse not to work, their famous excuse being that only fools work for a living, while wise men use these hardworking people to make their own lives comfortable. Lucky is mute in the film, but he is not a serious guy and does not expect any sympathy from anyone. On the contrary he is jovial, fun and always up to some antic or the other. However Laxmi is the honest guy in the group. He is also smart and intelligent.
One day due to their notorious and mischievous acts, the dean of their college throws them out of their hostel. Now the boys have nowhere to live. Well the leader of the gang, Gopal comes up with a witty but risky plan. Gopal tells the others about this big bungalow where an old blind couple live. He also explains that their son, daughter-in-law and grandson are living in America. Gopal has a wicked and naughty plan to inhabit the blind old couple’s home. He comes to stay at their home, conning the old couple by telling them that he is their grandson, Prashant.
Since the old couple is blind, he invites his other three friends too. But he has one condition that their voices should never be heard by the old couple. So with a promise to always remain silent, the others too move into the house. What follows is a comic turn of events at the blind couple’s home. Also the boys have the beautiful Rimi Sen for their neighbour. All the four have their eye on the pretty lady and try their best to woo her.
The film’s script is written by Neeraj Vora who has recently directed the comedy sequel Phir Hera Pheri. Golmal is filled with great laughter, funny and witty dialogues, great performances from talented actors and a really comic script. The look of the film is stylish and all four actors sport a young, hip and cool look. The film is slated to have a mid-July release. |
