Ace director Madhur Bhandarkar is going to open up those concealed reality of so called fashion industry. He peeped into the insight world of fashion and the models and brings to us the hard-core truth lying behind the glamour industry. Madhur is a director who is brilliant in bringing truth of life in celluloid. His earlier offerings like Traffic Signal, Corporate and Page 3 are the proof of his story telling prowess. His latest offering Fashion will similarly unveil some hidden facts and makes us wonder, is this the real fashion industry. Music is an inseparable part of any Hindi films. Though in real story music counted at last, in Fashion Madhur feels the need of some fashionable music.
The task of framing a soulful, hip-hop, disco and other categories of music related to fashion industry has been given to music director duo Salim-Sulaiman. They are the brain behind Dor, Iqbal and Chak De India. Salim-Sulaiman has mainly composed music of off-beat films and for the first time they are composing for any mainstream cinema. Let’s see how successful they will be in this category and obviously if the music declared a hit, they would register their name in the list of commercially thriving music directors. There are altogether five songs which are situational, captivating, and soothing. Here we will talk in gist about the music of Fashion.
Experience the 'Fashion Ka Jalwa' with this title track which is crooned by Sukhwinder, supported by Robert and Satya Hinduja. Quite fashionably fabricated with all the musical instruments at the backdrop and creates the mood of fashion shows remarkably well. Enticing beats, stylish rhythm and catchy lyrics by Sandeep Nath makes the song a fruitful hearing. It exactly creates the mood of ramp and it is totally a foot tapping number. Salim-Sulaiman tuning is perfect and the song has been able to fill up the environment with excitement.
How romance can be missing in the world of name, fame glitz and glamour. Feel the love in the air with 'Mar Jaava' sung by Shruti Pathak. Melodious to hear and can be touted as one of the best romantic number. Shruti Pathak is in her best and her husky, low key voice gives a different touch to the song. With this song the singer has firm her hold in B-Town. It is liable to be listed at the chartbusters.
'Ashiyana' is a perfect pub number and will set the dance floor on fire. Western music is incorporated in the album and it is quite thrilling to hear but falls below in comparison to the other songs of the flick. Salim himself took hold of the mike. It is a remix version and has a romantic feel. The song is average to hear and lyrics also fall short. It cannot be graded high.
'Kuch Khass' by Mohit Chauhan and Neha Bhasin cannot be touted brilliant hearing. The song in no way falls in the same level of Fashion Ka Jalwa and Mar Jaava. It can be regarded a soulless romantic number but have all the characteristic to be played in pubs and discos. Disappointing offering from Salim-Sulaiman.
'Theme of Fashion' is a delightful instrumental number and has a classy touch. Both Indian and Western instruments are included in it. It is exactly up to the theme of the film and will go well with the video that shows the models walking the ramp showcasing the designer outfits. The music is appropriate for the fashion shows and surely it will be a must played track of the ramp in future.
In a nutshell, the music of Fashion are worth hearing and your music CD will not get wasted. Though not all some songs deserve accolades. Three cheers for Salim-Sulaiman. They have paved their path of composing commercial music.
