3 Idiots - Movie Preview
Aamir Khan always looks upon as a hit factor. If he stars in any film then expectation becomes double. 3 Idiots has all hit quotient like Kareena Kapoor, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani and so it is expected to be a sure shot hit in regards of script and music. The music of the film is out in the market and hopefully doing good business. Vidhu Vinod Chopra again sticks to his same taste of music composer and sign in Shantanu Moitra. As far as we have seen, Shantanu scored high only in Parineeta and his genre of music is quite identical. Lage Raho Munabhai also did some good business. Again lyricist Swanand Kirkire has been signed to put some golden words.
We have seen in Munnabhai that Shantanu and Swanand compliment each other very well and hope they repeat the same magic here again. 3 Idiots have altogether five songs, each song is different in mood, taste and in representation. Shantanu has this time experimented with this style of music and sounds well. It’s a challenge for Shantanu to change his usual style of music.
The first offering of the album ‘Aal Izz Well’ has oodles of youth feeling. It basically speaks about the life style of the youth and it’s a campus song sung by Shaan and Sonu Nigan with full josh and masti, catching the nerve of the youth. On listening to the track, one would definitely go back to their college days. Swanand’s lyrics and Shantanu’s music did the magic here. In near future, it will be a popular campus song. The musical instruments are kept very ordinary, beats are foot-tapping. This song will really score high.
‘Zoobi Doobi’ is equally good in audio and video as it has been sung for Sonu Nigan and Sherya Ghosal and picturized on Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor. It is a rain song very sensuously shoots starring Bebo and Aamir. Here Shantanu goes back to the era of 60’s and 70’s where twist and turn was very prominent. Very lovely song and has all the ingredients to hit the chartbuster. Sonu and Shreya’s magical voice will able to woo one and all.
The third track ‘Behti Hawa Sa Tha Woh’ is very calm and purely situational. It gives us a hint how the couple of friends missed their partner who has lead a life of its own. He taught them how to enjoy life. Very touchy and very emotional. Shantanu has kept the music very low and let the golden words and voice flaunt. The song has a sad touch. Shantanu too joins Shaan in the track. The song is very steady and one would feel like hearing it repeatedly.
The steady and calmness prevails with the fourth track ‘Give Me Some Sunshine’. The music has been kept minimal and it speaks about the stressful student life where studies and percentages kills the youthful days. Lyrics is very catchy and the song is sadistic in approach. The song has some dialogue inbuilt in it. Singer Suraj Jagan crooned the song and actor Sharman Joshi delivered the dialogue reflecting the agony that the characters are going through.
The fifth track 'Jaane Nahin Denge Tujhe' was expected to be a chartbuster but Sonu Nigan sounds stale here. He failed to create the impact and the song sounds very sour. It seems that he was in a hurry to wrap up. The intensity and feeling was missing. The song failed to score high.
On the whole, the music of 3 Idiots will be much talked about. The music is of good quality but one cannot expect a major turnover from it. ‘Aal Izz Well’, ‘Behti Hawa Sa Tha Woh’ are the soul of the film. It will remain in the market for a long time but won’t contribute much to the success of the film. But a good effort from Shantanu and his team.
