Preity Zinta was born in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, on January 31, 1975. She comes from an army background. She has two brothers who are in the army. She is a psychology graduate. She is 5’4”.

She hit the scene with the advertisement of Liril. ‘Tara Rum Pum’ was slated to be her launch pad. ‘Kya Kehna’(2000) was her first signed movie. But, Mani Ratnam’s ‘Dil Se’ (1998) with Shahrukh Khan is her first ‘released’ movie. She won accolades for her role in Abbas Mustan’s movie “Soldier” (1998).

Preity Zinta has had some big hits in ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’ with Saif Ali Khan and Shahrukh Khan, ‘Lakshya’ with Hrithik Roshan, ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ by Farhan Akhtar, Yash Raj movie ‘Veer- Zaara’ and ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna’ with Rani Mukherjee, Abhishek Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan. She turned down the movie ‘Marigold’(2007) starring Salman Khan. She has won 11 awards in total for ‘Kya Kehna’ and ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’.

She is friends with Shahrukh Khan and his wife Gauri, Saif, Hrithik and Suzanna Roshan. She is best known for her dimples. She was in a relationship with the Bombay Dyeing heir Ness Wadia. Together they owned the IPL team “Kings XI Punjab”. She has been linked with Australian cricketer Brett Lee too.

Preity Zinta lost her father in a car accident when she was thirteen. She has written 3 columns for BBC’s division in South Asia. Preity Zinta’s favourite perfume is Gucci’s ‘Envy’. ‘The Simpsons’ is her favourite TV show.
