Bombay Dyeing heir Ness Wadia was brought on earth on 30th of May, 1970. His parents are Nusli Wadia and Maureen Wadia. He has a sibling Jehangir Wadia. Mohammad Ali Zinnah, the Father of Pakistan is the great grandfather of Ness. By birth, Ness is a Zoroastrian or Parsi.

After being educated at Lawrence School Sanawar, and Millfield School in England, he studied International Relations at Tufts University in Massachusetts.

In 1993, he joined Bombay Dyeing as a management trainee. He worked closely with retail distribution and marketing of the textile division. He actively participated in various organizations like the Mill Owners' Association (MOA), Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry and was the chairperson of TEXPROCIL.

In 1998, he took a sabbatical from Bombay Dyeing and he concluded his masters' degree from Warwick University in Science of Engineering Business Management. His thesis was on "Leading to success in India".

In the year 2001, he rejoined Bombay Dyeing as Deputy Managing Director and then was made Joint Managing Director.

From 1998 to 2001, he was a member of the prime minister's on Trade and Industry. He was also the convener of Special Group Task Force on Food and Agro Industries Management Policy in 1998.

Ness Wadia is the chairperson and the director of Britannia Industries ltd, The Bombay Burmah Trading Corporation Ltd. and Wadia BSN Ltd. He is also a director in TISCO, Gherzi Eastern Ltd and Tata Chemicals Ltd.

Ness had dated actress Preity Zinta from 2005 to 2009. Together they own IPL team Kings XI Punjab, worth $76 million.
