Born in Mumbai on June 9, 1975, Amisha Patel is the Gemini girl of Bollywood. She is the granddaughter of famous Barrister Rajni Patel and sister of actor Ashmit Patel. After acquiring a degree in Economics from Masachussets, Amisha made an entry into the world of acting.
After a small tryst with theatre and modeling, she debuted in Bollywood with Rakesh Roshan's 'Kaho naa pyaar Hai' in 2000 opposite Hrithik Roshan. Her performance in Anil sharma's 'Gadar-ek prem katha' won her the Filmfare Special Performance Award in 2001. After an acclaimed performance in Abbas-Mastan's 'Humraaz' in 2002, Amisha saw a series of failures and flops with films like Kya Yehi Pyaar Hai, Aap Mujhe Acche Lagne Lage, Parwana, Kranti and Yeh Hai Jalwa. During this period, Amisha's long time affair with director Vikram Bhatt and her legal confrontation with her parents, Amit Patel and Asha Patel, was the talk of the town.
She made a brief comeback with a small but powerful role of a widow in Ketan Mehta's Mangal Pandey. Some of her recent successes are attributed to films like Ankahee, Honeymoon Travels and Bhool Bhulaiya. Amisha is an active member of PETA that works for the welfare of animals and has been a performer in musical concerts across the world. After a mutual split with her long time beau Kanav Puri, this sexy babe is all set to make it big in Bollywood again. She will be seen in significant roles in films like Run Bhola Run, Power and Chatur Singh Two Star that are lined up for release this year.
